Midterm project
I took inspiration from vintage postcards that could be seen in a gift shop in the 1990s and 2000s. The name of the city is a pun on the word smorgasborg, which is a Swedish buffet of a collection of various food, and the suffix -burg which is commonly used for many towns and cities. I found this name fitting since I was using various skyscraper cutouts of various cities to create smorgasborg. The city skylines of los angeles, miami, new york, and toronto were used to make this city. I also drew birds, added airplanes, and hot air balloons in the sky to make it look more interesting. To make the buildings and other items in the photo look consistent and cohesive, I used color and gradient overlays on the buildings and objects to make them look more yellow and orange to match the sunset background.
